San Antonio - December, 2007
In mid-December, we flew down to San Antonio to visit with
nephew Jason McGuire, stationed there in the Air Force. Mo's sister Kathy
joined us. We got to meet Jason's new dog (Argos), visited the Riverwalk
with its brilliant Christmas illumination, spent a day at Sea World, and toured
one of the Missions.

Our surprise when we saw Jason was his new dog Argos.
Kathy was in on the secret, but Mo and I were very surprised! |
Argos is an American Bulldog that Jason adopted from
a local dog rescue. |
Argos is a big gentle boy who loves pats. |
Jason also has a Chihuahua named Chica. Argos
and Chica seem to get along OK. |
 |
 |
 |
 |
Argos was just getting used to "his" toys. |
Mo had a good time experimenting with Jason's pool
table. |

|
Jason just got this new BMW Mini Cooper. |
It's a real pocket rocket! Jason let me drive
it, and even managed to remain calm when I couldn't figure out how to
use the six-speed gearbox! |
Before Jason adopted him, Argos had been cared for by
a foster family that also had a Chihuahua, so he was used to small dogs. |

 |
Jason's new house sits right on the UP mainline to
Austin and Fort Worth. What a treat! |
Argos's previous foster family came to check on him
and see how he was doing. |

We went down to the Riverwalk for the afternoon and
evening. A Mariachi band played for us at lunch. |
Jason made good use of the leftover tortilla chips. |
|
The Riverwalk barges are decked out in Christmas
attire, circling Santa's hideout on the river. |

|
This Christmas tree is in the plaza in front of the
Alamo. |
|
As daylight recedes, the lights and luminaries start
looking pretty good. |

 |
|
Jason looks like he's had enough fun for one day, but
he humored his aunts and uncle and let us stay a while longer. |
|
Like all the restaurants along the Riverwalk, the
Hard Rock Cafe has outdoor seating right along the river. It
was a bit chilly at night - you can see the gas heaters at work. |

Lights reflecting on the water were dazzling. |
